7 Facts from my childhood that make me, ME ;)

dreamy-girl I am writing this post inspired by a similar post by one of my fellow blogger, joyroses13.

This post is dedicated to my childhood. The list of facts, is as follows:

Fact No. #1:

As a kid, I was amazed looking at the sky and clouds and used to believe that somewhere out there, there must be a road or some area where sky would be touching the earth and i would get to see and feel the clouds. 😀

Fact No. #2:

I was so keen on joining school i used to run behind my cousins(who are 4 years elder to me) when they would leave for school. 😀

Fact No. #3:

When i was small, i wanted to become a Teacher, because then i would get to check the students’ notebooks and would get to grade them. 😀

Fact No. #4:

In our school, we had a ‘Best Student Of the Week’ displayed on the board outside every classroom. Once, at my PTA Meet(I must have been in 4th grade i think), My Mom just said that she wanted to see my name on that board.  And guess what, she didn’t have to wait long for that to happen. At the end of the term, just before the holidays i got it there. As vacations started right after that, instead of a week it stayed there for a month or so 😀

The words of my Parents have always meant the world to me, and to this day, they still do.

And, I love making my Parents proud. 🙂 🙂

Fact No. 5#:

I got my first English poem published(3 poems in one go) in a State Newspaper when I was 12(Had actually sent for publication when i was 11). And, the first one was inspired by the ideas given in an exercises at the end of the Chapters in my English literature book. That was my first tryst with writing. 🙂

Fact No. #6:

My one-off experience with acting was in an English Play i did, when I was in 9th grade. I remember enjoying every bit of it. 🙂

Fact No. #7:

In School I have gotten involved with almost all co-curricular activities, but never in sports. I have participated in Dance(Giddha: Punjab’s folk dance; Bollywood), Painting, Music(Prayers and folk songs), Debates and declamations, Caption contests, English Play(as already mentioned).

Writing 101 : Day 3, Commit to a Writing Practice

Well, for today’s assignment I’m going to write about the three of my favorite songs and what do they mean to me.

Song 1:

Mujhse Juda Hokar (Movie: Hum Aapke Hain Kaun)

“By Separating from me, you have to go far away from me

A moment’s separation, and you will have to return”

This song is important to me because it so nicely depicts the pain of being separated from your Love for a short time along with the hope of meeting soon. And, the video has been shot perfectly to go with the lyrics. The lovers think that although we’ll have to leave each other for a while, but with the assurance that they will have each other’s love to keep company and their wait will actually be rewarded one day. This song leaves me feeling good. Cherishing their innocent and pure love for each other. And how much they’re going to miss each other when away. Also, how it depicts the dreams the couple have for their future together(If they are serious for each other). The stories they make, the scenes they imagine(shown in the video). I just love living those moments with them(The couple in the movie).

Here’s the youtube link of this song with English subtitles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MONrycqV3Ow

P.S. Awwww, I’m such a Romantic.

Song 2:

Baabul(Movie: Hum Aapke Hain Kaun)

“Dear Father, whatever I’ve learnt from you in this home,

I take along all of that to my new house..”

This song is important to me, because it speaks about the pain a daughter goes through when she has to leave her Parents’ home when she gets married(In Indian culture, guys stay with their Parents throughout their life but girls stay until they get married) Although, I yet have to experience these emotions in my Life, but whenever I listen to this song I always have tears in my eyes. What a bride goes through at that time, has been so beautifully depicted in this song. What emotions she’s feeling, what she would say to her father, her mother, her sister has been so nicely said. I also have a younger sister, so i can easily relate. How she will take along the teachings from her Father, how she’d never forget the childhood stories she heard from him, how she’s going to leave behind her childhood memories and her request to her  younger sister to take care of her Parents in her absence. These words bring a plethora of emotions inside me. Its not yet happened, but will be in near future and saddens me to just even think about it.

I’m very attached to my Family, that shows why this song always evokes reactions in me.

Song 3:

Tu Na Jaane Aas Paas Hai Khuda(Movie: Anjaana Anjaani)

“You’re not aware that God’s all around you”

This song holds significance for me because i remember how once when I was really upset and stressed and I listened to this song. This song magically lifted my spirits. It asks you to remember that there is a divine presence around you. And, how you should not lose faith in yourself, and keep on walking on your path. This song is just awesome and it will directly speak to your depressed heart, your crushed spirit if you ever are in dumps and you can’t see anything worthwhile.

I’m in love with this song.

These all songs are close to my heart all for different reasons. Hope you had happy time reading the post.
